National Martyrs’ Day – February 18

On February 18 of each year, Algeria commemorates National Martyrs’ Day, a solemn occasion in the nation’s collective memory during which we honor, with deep respect and gratitude, the sacrifices of the men and women who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of our country.
This historic commemoration offers an opportunity to renew our commitment to the legacy of the martyrs, to reinforce the values of patriotism and national pride, and to draw inspiration from the spirit of sacrifice, unity, and solidarity that shaped Algeria’s history.
As we remember their heroism, we reaffirm that the martyrs' message will remain a guiding light for future generations and a lasting motivation to continue building and preserving Algeria’s sovereignty, security, and stability.
Glory and eternity to our righteous martyrs.
Long live Algeria, free and independent.
