NATIONAL IDENTITY CARD
Algerian citizens permanently residing abroad can apply for a biometric National Identity Card after completing their consular registration.
- How to Apply?
- If you already have a biometric passport with a National Identification Number (NIN), you can apply online: [Click here to apply for a biometric National Identity Card];
- If you do not have a biometric passport, you must visit the Embassy in person for fingerprinting and signature. Make sure to bring the following required documents;
- Who Can Apply?
- Any Algerian citizen, regardless of age, can apply for a National ID Card online after obtaining a biometric passport;
- Children Under 12: No need for in-person fingerprinting or ID collection. Send all documents by mail;
- Applicants 12 & Older: Must visit the Embassy for fingerprinting (no appointment needed). Mail the application first to speed up the process.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Completed Application Form (signed by the legal guardian if applicable).
- One (1) passport photo (2x2 inches / 51x51 mm, white background, neutral face, no smile, clear forehead).
- S12 Birth Certificate (Required only if the previous biometric ID was not issued by the Embassy of Algeria in Washington). [Click here to apply].
- Copy of a valid consular registration card.
- Current or expired old ID. If lost, stolen or damaged, submit a Lost or Stolen Form along with a $15 penalty fee (U.S. Postal Money Order only).
- Return Envelope for a faster and safer return of your documents, provide a USPS Priority Mail return envelope with a tracking number.
