  1. Important Information

Consular Registration: Biometric passports are issued only after completing consular registration.

Children Under 12: No need for in-person fingerprinting or passport collection. Send all documents by mail.

Applicants 12 & Older: Must visit the Consulate for fingerprinting (no appointment needed). Mail the application first to speed up the process.

Renewal: Apply at least 6 months before your passport expires.

Processing & Tracking: Passports are issued in Algeria and take several weeks. Track your application one week after fingerprinting using your receipt number.


  1. Required Documents
  • Completed Application Form (signed by the legal guardian if applicable);
  • One (1) passport photo (2x2 inches / 51x51 mm, white background, neutral face, no smile, clear forehead);
  • S12 Birth Certificate (Required only if the previous biometric passport was not issued by the Embassy of Algeria in Washington). [Click here to apply];
  • Copy of a valid consular registration card;
  • Current or expired passport: If lost or damaged, submit a Passport Lost or Stolen Form along with a penalty fee of $125 for adults or $62.50 for students and minors penalty fee (U.S. Postal Money Order only);
  • Proof of legal U.S. residency (U.S. passport, Green Card, or appropriate visa);
  • Proof of employment or school enrollment;
  • Proof of U.S. address (utility bill, lease agreement, etc.);
  • Return Envelope for a faster and safer return of your documents, provide a USPS Priority Mail return envelope with a tracking number.
