Commemorating the 63rd Anniversary of National Immigration Day October 17, 1961
The Algerian Embassy in Washington observed, today the 63rd anniversary of the National Day of Immigration, commemorating the demonstrations of October 17, 1961-2024, under the slogan "Pride of Belonging... and the Path of Loyalty." On this occasion, Ambassador Sabri Boukadoum delivered a speech in which he stressed that October 17 is a milestone for the unity of Algerians as a whole, from within and abroad, against French colonialism, as on that same day France committed massacres against Algerian peaceful demonstrators who protested against the racist and arbitrary curfew imposed on them. The flag was raised, the national anthem was played, and the participants observed a minute of silence. Al-Fatihah was recited for the souls of Algeria’s righteous martyrs.
