On Sunday, July 27, 2025, Minister of State for Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, received Mr. Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Africa, Arab Affairs, and the Middle East, at the Ministry’s headquarters.

Attendees included:

– Ms. Karima Bekir Tafer, Secretary of State for Mines

– Mr. Noureddine Yassa, Secretary of State for Renewable Energies

– H.E. U.S. Ambassador to Algeria

– H.E. Algerian Ambassador to the United States

– Senior officials from both delegations

Key Highlights of the Meeting:

Discussion on strengthening U.S.–Algerian cooperation in energy, mining, and renewables

Recognition of partnerships between Sonatrach and Chevron/ExxonMobil

Praise for the local manufacturing collaboration between Sonelgaz and General Electric at the GIAT plant in Batna

Presentation of Algeria’s strategy for increasing production, promoting industrial transformation, and developing clean energy and hydrogen

Invitation for U.S. investors to explore opportunities in strategic and rare minerals, with a focus on knowledge transfer and local value creation

Mr. Massad Boulos expressed a strong interest in expanding cooperation and confirmed the commitment of U.S. companies to contribute to Algeria’s energy and mining development.
