Exceptional Facilitation Measure for Algerian Nationals Holding Valid Foreign Passports - (Valid until 31 December 2026)

The Embassy of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Washington, D.C., informs Algerian nationals residing within its consular jurisdiction that, pursuant to the official communiqué of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dated 29 December 2025, an exceptional and temporary facilitation measure has been extended until 31 December 2026.
Under this measure, Algerian citizens residing abroad who hold a valid foreign passport are authorized to enter and exit the national territory of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria without obtaining a prior visa, upon presentation of:
- A valid foreign passport, accompanied by an Algerian biometric passport, even if expired; or
- A valid foreign passport, accompanied by an Algerian biometric and electronic national identity card (CNIBE), even if expired.
Beneficiaries of this facilitation are required to use the same documents for both entry into and exit from Algerian territory, in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Clarification regarding minor children
For clarification purposes, minor children traveling with their parent(s) and/or legal guardian(s) may benefit from this facilitation when accompanied by official civil status documents proving the family relationship or legal guardianship (family booklet, family record, kafala document, or court-issued guardianship judgment), in accordance with applicable border procedures.
The Embassy strongly encourages members of the Algerian community to renew their identity and travel documents as soon as possible, particularly ahead of peak travel periods, to avoid delays.
